right, so remember that chronic-cles of narnia thing that everyone’s been going nuts over? well my dude alex floated me this email saying it was done by these dudes.

you really ought to consider checking out the heist and go from there.

man alive.

mitch hedberg

Posted in awesome, cool, do it on September 27th, 2005

so christian surprised me with a cd of mitch hedberg’s comedy routines. I’ve been laughing my ass off (in between sneezing, coughing, and sniffling) at work all day.

check out his quotes.

if you’re too lazy, here are some of my faves:

I think foosball is a combination of soccer and shish kabobs.

I wish I could play Little League now, I’d kick butt. I’d be way better than before. They’d back-up now!

You know when they have a fishing show on TV? They catch the fish and then let it go. They don’t want to eat the fish; they just want to make it late for something. “Why were you late?” “I got caught!” “Bullshit, lemme see the inside of your lip!”

All McDonalds commercials end the same way: “prices and participation may vary.” I want to open my own McDonalds and not participate in anything. I want to be a stubborn McDonalds owner. “Cheeseburgers? Nope. We got spaghetti!…And blankets. But we are not affiliated with that clown, he attracts too many children.”

On a traffic light, green means “go” and yellow means “yield,” but on a banana it’s just the opposite. Green means “hold on,” yellow means “go ahead,” and red means “Where the fuck did you get that banana at?”

okay, obviously I can go on but I’ll let you just visit that site. and keep this genius’s memory alive.

the funniest thing I’ve seen all day

Oh, the Places Antoine’s Shimmy Will Go!

you don’t need to be following the NBA to appreciate this humor. really.

jay mohr writes for SI.com?

Posted in do it, hilarious on August 11th, 2005

since when did jay mohr start writing for SI.com? today he wrote an article called Four foolproof ways to figure out if your team stinks and holy shit it’s hilarious.

ps- I just found the answer to my question. jay is filling in for a staff writer who’s gone for a month.

perhaps you’ve seen this star wars parody

doing yourself a favor

so I kept hearing about this japanese scifi move casshern for a while but never got around to seeing it until just the other day.

… and holy shit it’s ridiculous. if you’ve ever been into anime or scifi or dudes fighting robots then you need to peep the trailer (yeah it’s in japanese, deal with it). it’s shot beautifully and the special effects are crazy amazing. crazing.

so yeah. I borrowed it, watched it, and then went out and got it. it’s that easy, folks.

in other news, scary kids scaring kids are continuing to post songs from their what’s going to be one of the sweetest cd’s to come out this summer. the new one went up today and it’s good. I’m tired of talking about how good they are.

I do the science on my laptop, get my boys mashed up

so the very same co-worker pal with the sweet weezer hook-ups came through with a link to the legion of doom this morning and I’ve been listening to this shit all fucking day.

the legion of doom are a collective of producers and artists and headz from all walks of life who produce clever and seamless mashups. but why am I into these guys rather than the dude who blendered up jay-z with the beatles or whatever? because TLOD fucking do it with emo/punk/hardcore. not only that, but they’re getting clearance from the labels and artists and are looking to release an actual album. so everyone gets paid.

you can hop over to their site to download the tracks that won’t be on their album (dashboard vs brand new, the get up kids vs thursday, atreyu vs it dies today) but it downloads slower than a motherfucker. so just hit up their purevolume page to preview and download the songs. speaking of PV, the new scary kids song should be posted today…

the weekend was a gas

Posted in do it, nerd, review on May 2nd, 2005

I left my aim on over the weekend by mistake and my pal roger sent me this link from the discovery channel site at some point in the past 2 days. the synopsis reads:

City in a Pyramid
Imagine a self-sustaining pyramid-shaped city in the air. And imagine that it is built by robots and with little help from human workers.

yeah I think you should check it out.

in other news I saw the new hitchhiker’s movie and I really, really liked it. come on, british style humo(u)r, sci-fi and existentialism? not to mention starring martin freeman? it’s a done deal. lesley says I should read the books, and I just might.

I also saw i heart huckabees. I didn’t love it but it was fairly clever I thought. one of my roommates found the dvd in an abandoned dvd player in the lobby of our apartment building, you see. not that it needs to be said, but this film reaffirmed naomi watts as my #1 hollywood starlet.

An Adventurer is You!

so I’m totally hooked on kingdom of loathing. it really speaks to my d&d nerd past combined with hilarious minimalist humor.

it’s almost like this shit was MADE for me.

good thing you’re limited to how much you can play in a day. I’d do nothing else if it wasn’t (well, except to play with hayley).
