my directoral debut, 8 days later is an official selection of the 2009 coney island film festival!!
coney island is an awesome place just by itself, so sticking a film festival there just completely brings it over the top. imagine taking a giant bowl of your favorite ice cream and topping it off with fourth of july fireworks.
see you there? screening info is as follow:
Program #13
Sunday Oct 4, 3pm
CONEY ISLAND MUSEUM
1208 Surf Ave. 2nd Floor
this is pretty much unreal, from the songwriting to the cast. how the hell did they get julianne moore and billy crudup??! henry rollins?!
remember that tiny bootleg tron 2 teaser we saw a year ago? well it’s now available in hd.
but what blows me away is for all the kiddies geeking over this, there’s a vast amount of them who haven’t even seen the first one. do your homework first, junior.
I love megatron’s ringtone.
…hmm, let me try that again.
set phasers to FUN! …ugh, that sucks too.
boldly going where no star trek movie has gone before! … fuck it.
go see star trek.
I’ve been all about these guys lately.
you’ve probably seen this already but I figured I’d repost on here.
I went to a friend’s birthday drinks thing this weekend and we got into a conversation about our mutual admiration of refused, namely the best song ever written.
we were chatting tonight and I poked over to youtube to watch the sweet video for the song (above), and that was when I discovered a list of bands that covered it. crazy town? uh, I’ll pass. the used? no thanks. but… who is this comadre?
(keep an eye on the dude in the hat and grey t-shirt on the left of the screen - he goes ABSOLUTELY BALLISTIC on air guitar at 3:10)
of the bands covering the song I felt they came the closest in their energy and intent, so I went over to their myspace page and listened to their original songs.
sigh… I’m such a sucker for the lo-fi screamo/hardcore. and with song titles like “hey, holmes, slow down” “the hole in the ship, s.o.s.” “are you guys telling jokes? i like jokes!” and “well damn, if we all ate the berries together we might as well die together” how can you go wrong?
