Posted in and?, tech on September 27th, 2006

apparently my webhost is giving me a server upgrade so this site (and my lightrotation email address) might go out temporarily.

dunno when this will go down but it’s gonna be soon.

now that the wait for the science of sleep is over I have now set my sights on flannel pajamas. too bad it won’t be playing until november (ugh).

btw, seeing the trailer on the big screen is much more powerful than what you get in that tiny window.

and speaking of songs playing in trailers, I absolutely love the one they use: asobi seksu’s song thursday. beautiful.

the science of seeing films on opening day.

well, not so much the science but the drawback is that you can’t talk about it because most people probably haven’t seen it yet.

I liked it, I definitely liked it, but I need to see it again to confirm a few things I’m unclear about. I’m not quite ready to call it my #1 film of the year.

ps- I’ve never been much of a strokes or deathcab fan, but I admit their songs in the trailer (fear of sleep, your heart is an empty room) are pretty damn sweet. as for the velvet underground song… well, who’s gonna hate on TVU?

what the fuck.

so the subway stations are plastered with ads for the new season of top model which starts tonight. there’s one girl who I think is exceptionally hot so I went on their website to see what her story was… turns out her name is aj! what the fuck.

either way I don’t think I’ll start watching this show because I’m already so wound up over PR3.

fall of films update: saw red doors last night, going to see confetti and friday is the premiere of science of sleep!!!

why isn’t it called BEIJING duck?

just curious.

on demand.

I was introduced to the wonderful world of HBO on demand the other day. I can watch hbo programming whenever I want? what? and I’m already paying for it?

so I went and did what I had to do: watch the entire first season of extras in one sitting.

I had seen the first episode before and thought “meh” but as the season wore on it just kept getting progressively better. ricky gervais knows how to play one character and he plays it better than anyone else.

here’s an example of andy millman (gervais) talking with patrick stewart.

Patrick Stewart: I will “Make It So.”
[blank look from Andy]
Patrick Stewart: You’ve seen “Star Trek: The Next Generation?”
Andy Millman: I haven’t, no.
Patrick Stewart: Why? Your wife won’t let you have it on?
Andy Millman: I’m not married.
Patrick Stewart: Oh, your girlfriend then?
Andy Millman: I haven’t got a girlfriend either. I live alone.
Patrick Stewart: You’re not married, you haven’t got a girlfriend… and you’ve never watched “Star Trek?”
Andy Millman: No.
Patrick Stewart: Good Lord…

that is, as they call it, slice of fried gold.
