put the flat in the coke you nut

Posted in and?, yum on May 13th, 2005

so I tried that lime coke recently, and honestly I didn’t taste much lime. what I tasted was coke with less carbonation (than what I remembered) and … not much else. and the thing with me and cola drinks is that I prefer pepsi in general but I like semi-flat coke.

surely I’m not the only cola drinker who enjoys semi-flat coke?

so yeah, had they marketed it as the All New FLAT Coke I woulda tried it sooner.

this way is a waterslide away from you that takes you futher ev-ery-day

yeah so =w= last night were pretty fucking good. often times when a band plays over an hour I start getting antsy and want to leave, no matter how much I like the band. such wasn’t the case last night. in the span of 1hr20min they played a good bit of stuff off the blue album. I wish they played “only in dreams” though.

either way they pretty much played everything else I wanted to hear and then some. the crowd wasn’t going nuts like the last time I saw them 4 years ago (same venue, even), and they even mentioned that in their little blog (look for the 5/11 entry). and I paraphrase:

… a slightly less raucous crowd than at recent shows (its the ‘NYC cool’ factor at work, i think)

which is kind of funny, because the last place I’d expect this “nyc cool” factor kicking in is at some 1000+ capacity venue in midtown manhattan.

anyway, straight off their site, here’s the setlist:

Tired Of Sex
In The Garage
No One Else
Pardon Me
Buddy Holly
Photograph
Hold Me
Getchoo
Say It Ain’t So
We Are All On Drugs
Island In The Sun
My Name Is Jonas
Peace
Beverly Hills
Hash Pipe
Haunt You Every Day

Undone - The Sweater Song
The Good Life

which is pretty much the same exact setlist they’ve been playing all tour. that’s a tad weak. they’re playing two nights in nyc and I’m hoping they won’t screw over the twice-goers (shout-out to matt* right here).

scary kids’ album preview: week 4+5

Posted in review, yay, ♫ on May 10th, 2005

I didn’t have a proper heading for last week’s scary kids post so I figured I’d bunch ‘em both together for this week.

so I said this before but I don’t know if this is the order the songs will appear on the album, but the last two songs posted were down tempo (which would be a slightly odd sequence, based on what the others are like).

I like last week’s what’s said is done, but this week’s just a taste is even more sort of … anthemic and I really like it. ballad-y. but at the very end of the song the kids on guitar manage to squeeze in some metally riffs which is awesome. as if to say “enough of this sappy shit.”

nice.

they was watching yo mtv raps, what’s the haps on the craps?

I always knew there is a lot of trash bags sprawled out on the edge of sidewalks here (to be collected), but I never paid as much attention to them as I have now. see, hayley (the new doggie) fucking LOVES to sniff-sniff up on bags of trash and cozy up to them. to keep her from doing this I now have to keep an eye out for bags of trash up ahead as I take her on her walks.

yeah, that’s the only reason why I hate there being trash on the street.
the end.

I don’t dance, I just pull up my pants

my roommates are completely obsessed with need for speed underground 2. they seriously play this game whenever the tv isn’t being used (and by “whenever the tv isn’t being used” I mean whenever lesley and tracy aren’t watching the l word).

the soundtrack to this game is kinda interesting. they have songs by bands like helmet, rise against, killing joke, unwritten law, as well as like snoop dogg and terror squad.

but it seems like whenever I sit down to watch them playing the game “lean back” song by terror squad ALWAYS comes on.

as with any other game the further you progress the more cool features become available to you. I think they should also let you unlock new songs, because I’m tired of doing the lean back when I watch them play.

a fun game thing

I got a link from a buddy of mine and it’s fun if you have a spare minute to kill.

guess the google

try this shit out.

ps- the scary kids‘ new song is good btw — kind of the slow tempo ballady sound, you know.

[NOTE: looks like they took it down]

so the very same co-worker pal with the sweet weezer hook-ups came through with a link to the legion of doom this morning and I’ve been listening to this shit all fucking day.

the legion of doom are a collective of producers and artists and headz from all walks of life who produce clever and seamless mashups. but why am I into these guys rather than the dude who blendered up jay-z with the beatles or whatever? because TLOD fucking do it with emo/punk/hardcore. not only that, but they’re getting clearance from the labels and artists and are looking to release an actual album. so everyone gets paid.

you can hop over to their site to download the tracks that won’t be on their album (dashboard vs brand new, the get up kids vs thursday, atreyu vs it dies today) but it downloads slower than a motherfucker. so just hit up their purevolume page to preview and download the songs. speaking of PV, the new scary kids song should be posted today…

the weekend was a gas

Posted in do it, nerd, review on May 2nd, 2005

I left my aim on over the weekend by mistake and my pal roger sent me this link from the discovery channel site at some point in the past 2 days. the synopsis reads:

City in a Pyramid
Imagine a self-sustaining pyramid-shaped city in the air. And imagine that it is built by robots and with little help from human workers.

yeah I think you should check it out.

in other news I saw the new hitchhiker’s movie and I really, really liked it. come on, british style humo(u)r, sci-fi and existentialism? not to mention starring martin freeman? it’s a done deal. lesley says I should read the books, and I just might.

I also saw i heart huckabees. I didn’t love it but it was fairly clever I thought. one of my roommates found the dvd in an abandoned dvd player in the lobby of our apartment building, you see. not that it needs to be said, but this film reaffirmed naomi watts as my #1 hollywood starlet.
